Mercy's Wake
A downloadable game for Windows
The colony ship Long Mercy fell centuries ago. Its survivors built a world around the wreck: its decks became streets, its engine halls became chapels, and the names on its passenger list became the Manifest, who still rule. Everyone born outside is ground-born, and has to make a living out there.
Mercy's Wake is an isometric pixel-art sandbox MMO where almost everything worth owning is made by players.
- Gather it yourself. Mine, salvage and harvest; fish the black waters and trap what lives out there. The richest seams lie furthest out, where the worst things live.
- Make everything. Refine ore into steel, then forge, sew, brew and tinker it into gear that carries your name. Gear wears out, breaks or is lost, so makers always have work.
- Every town keeps its own market. Nothing teleports. Carry goods yourself, load a pack beast, or seal them in a courier crate and pay someone braver to haul them.
- Skills grow by use. Theory trains even while you are away and sets how far you can go; Practice comes from doing the thing. Nobody can master everything.
- Fight your own way. Blades, mauls, pistols, rifles, fists, resonators, flame projectors, robot minions, or an injector to keep your friends alive. Hunt elites with a group, delve the ship's buried decks, or climb the arena ladder.
- The further out, the deadlier. Safe ground near the ship; flagged fights in the Frontier; open fighting and full loot in the Wastes.
This is an early-development playtest, and you would be one of its first players. Try the first hour and tell us where you got stuck, what kept you going, and whether you wanted to keep playing. Progress will be wiped before launch.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, a keyboard and a mouse.
- About 400 MB to download (the 116 MB launcher, then the game in compressed pieces) and 3.5 GB of space once installed.
- An account, made in the launcher: a name, a password, and an email address confirmed with a code we send (check your spam folder). You must be 16 or older.
The launcher is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you the first time. If you choose to run it, click More info, then Run anyway. It installs only into the folder you pick.
Telling us what you think
- In the game: Menu, Report a problem. It sends us what you write, a picture of your screen if you allow it, and what the game was doing, so we can fix it.
